Updating Your Volvo’s OTA Software In Lynchburg, VA
How To Download and Install Your Volvo’s OTA Software
Volvo's OTA Software
Transform your daily commute with Volvo’s over-the-air (OTA) software updates. No more inconvenient trips to a workshop – you can now seamlessly access cutting-edge features and enhancements. OTA software updates are delivered in two phases: the download phase and the installation phase.
Your Volvo vehicle must be connected to the internet to receive these convenient OTA updates. Stay in the loop for new updates that are waiting to be downloaded and installed. These updates are frequently launched, and you can find comprehensive release notes for each update on the support site.
Downloading and Installing OTA Updates
Downloading OTA Updates
Make sure your vehicle is always up to date by allowing automatic software downloads.
Simply go to Settings > System > Software, update and enable Automatic software download.
If you choose not to enable automatic downloads, you'll receive a notification when you enter your vehicle, giving you the option to download the software.
Installing OTA Updates
After downloading the software, clear instructions for the next steps can be found on the vehicle's center display. You have the option to begin the installation immediately or whenever is convenient. If you choose to postpone the installation, finding the notification is simple:
- You can access your notifications by swiping down from the top of the display.
- Tap "Install now" on the center display, exit the vehicle, and lock the doors.
- A confirmation notification will be viewed on the center display and through the Volvo Cars app once the installation is complete.
It's best to avoid accessing your vehicle during the installation. Consider scheduling the installation overnight, as it could take up to 90 minutes to complete.
Additional Vehicle Installation Information
For a smooth OTA installation, keep the following in mind:
- Ensure that the battery level of fully electric vehicles is at least 40% before starting the installation.
- Note that software installation for plug-in hybrids cannot occur during charging, but it can happen if the vehicle is fully charged and is connected to the charging cable.
- Make sure that the vehicle is locked before proceeding.
Avoid driving the vehicle during the installation process. Accessing the vehicle during installation may disrupt or halt the process, causing potential operational issues. To gain access, use the key blade, as the remote function of the key fob will be disabled during installation. Refer to the user manual for guidance on using the key blade.
In the event of an unsuccessful installation, we strongly advise you to contact your Volvo retailer immediately.
