There is real value in a timing belt even if one doesn't immediately grasp it. The timing belt plays an essential role in making sure the crankshaft and the camshaft are working together in coordination. Those two elements need to work together to get the gas and air into the engine as they are supposed to for the engine to have what it needs to run well. As you can see, it is all connected, and it is important to have ever element running just perfectly.

A timing belt generally requires replacement after about 100,000 miles of operation. You may find that your particular timing belt lasts a bit longer or a bit shorter than this mileage goal, but the point is that this is a rough estimate that you can go by for timing belt replacement.

Treat the timing belt just like any other critical element of your vehicle and you should be just fine.
